For its duration, the function of a song is to take the listener inside of an experience and to lead them back out again. Over the course of repeated listens a song binds itself to the experiences of a listener and becomes a portal.

These are songs of transition and uncertainty. The speakers find themselves encased by the trivia of their lives. Some of them know why. The others have stopped asking. Most of them end up where they started.

I welcome you through my revolving doors.
